English: H. C. White Co. was founded by Hawley C. White and his two sons Harrie C. White and Clarence W. White in 1870 in New York City to make stereoscopes. The company moved to North Bennington in 1874. The factory burned in 1887 and was speedily rebuilt; it was expanded in 1907. The two White sons worked as photographers and traveled the world taking pictures for stereographs. White also patented machines which automated most of his production line. White invented the radiopticon in 1910 which projected postcard images on a screen. In 1915 Clarence White invented the Kiddie Kar and eventually the entire factory was devoted to its production. The White company later made a line of children's desk sets, tables and chairs and also bent wood folding porch furniture. The company went out of business in the 1930s (they are listed in the 1935 Bennington Directory, but not 1937).
