English: This pavilion is immediately to the south of Thousand Buddha Hall in the center strip. On an elevation accessed by stairs it received its current name by its original being the building before which Huike stood in the snow waiting to be accepted as a disciple of Bodhidharma, who finally yielded and came out. Formerly known as Bodhidharma Pavilion and First Patriarch Hall the building today can be identified by its pattern of roof ridges. It is the only building in the core complex with five ridges, a central and four offshoots.
