The Italian colony Italian Somaliland (Italian: "Somalia italiana", Arabic: "الصومال الإيطالي Al-Sumal Al-Italiy", Somali: "Dhulka Talyaaniga ee Soomaaliya") existed 1888-1941 in North-East Africa in what is now modern Somalia. 1941 - Nov. 1949 was Italian Somaliland occupated by British and South African troups. In the time 1950 - 1960 was "Italian Somaliland" an United Nations trusteeship area administrated with Italian mandate (= "AFIS-territory", from "Ammistrazione Fiduciana Italiana della Somalia"); independence of Somalia:
