English: St. Catherine's Friary in Killybegs was founded c. 1535–1540 by MacSwiny Bannagh for the Franciscan Third Order Regular. Suppressed c. 1600, used as a Protestant church after 1615, reused by the friars c. 1641, and afterwards again as Protestant church until the new church was built in 1829. (See entry 1885 in Brian Lacy: Archaeological Survey of County Donegal, and p. 272 in Gwynn & Hadcock: Medieval Religious Houses Ireland.)
