The first Francis Brockell Spilsbury (1761-1823) was a surgeon in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic era in Europe and in the War of 1812 on the Great Lakes.
Francis Brockell Spilsbury (1784-1830) was a commander in the British Royal Navy serving in the Mediterranean and the War of 1812, and eventually returned to Upper Canada to settle in the village of Colborne in Cramahe Township in 1822.
