The printing house was originally owned by a Siamese woman named Yin Chunlawithun (Thai: หยิน จุลวิธูร), who was born on 10 January 2422 BE (1880 CE) and died on 22 August 2501 BE (1958 CE). Yin married a Siamese nobleman of Chinese descent, who bore the noble title of "Phra Sophon-aksonkit" (Thai: พระโสภณอักษรกิจ) and whose personal name was Lek Samitasiri (Thai: เล็ก สมิตะสิริ). Lek was born on 1 February 2417 BE (1875 CE) and died on 11 March 2491 BE (1948 CE).

The printing house was originally located on Tri Phet Road and was established in the reign of King Rama V (1868–1910 CE).

Due to the flourishing of its business, the printing house moved to the following locations, respectively:

1. Wat Ko Subdistrict (present-day Khlong Thanon Subdistrict, Sai Mai District, Bangkok).
2. Charoen Krung Road, Bangkok, near Buraphaphirom Palace. The printing house moved to this location in 2443 BE (1900/01 CE). In the same year, the printing house was renamed Sophon Phiphat Thanakon (after the noble title of Lek). The original name of the printing house is not known.
3. Ratchabophit Road (now part of Ratchabophit Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok). The printing house moved to this location in 2449 BE (1906/07 CE).

It is not known when the printing house ceased its business, but it was still in operation in the early reign of King Rama IX (1946–2016 CE).
