The Silesian Museum of Fine Arts in Wrocław (Schlesische Museum für bildende Künste in Breslau) was established in 1880. In 1942 the collection was evacuated to Nazi art repositories in Silesia. In 1945 the building was damaged and eventually demolished in 1964. Due to territorial changes after World War II, the "Polish public art resources" were enriched with collection of the Silesian Museum of Fine Arts while facing losses in east, including collection of the Lviv Art Gallery (Lwowska Galeria Sztuki). |
