Siege of Kasagi Kasagiyama no tatakai 笠置山の戦い took place in 1331 and was an early battle in the Genpei War. Hōjō clan forces attacked and burned the fortified Buddhist temple Kasagi-dera, which was at the top of Mount Kasagi just outside of Kyoto city. Emperor Go-Daigo, who was the target of the attack, escaped and fled.
