English: Shweshwe is a traditional dyed printed dress fabric made in South Africa. It was named after Moshoeshoe I who was gifted with the cloth by French missionaries in the 19th century. Originally dyed indigo, modern shweshwe fabric also comes in other colours. Shweshwe clothing is traditionally worn by Xhosa and Sotho women.
