English: The Pharmacy was a quadrangular building on the east side of the Mountain Gate, not unlike a Roman hospital. The Romans grew herbs in the interior of the quadrangle and placed beds in the quadrangle to be accessed from the outside. Not so much is known about the Shaolin medical facility. Its staff were specialists in Shaolin medicine, a requirement re-instituted for modern medical monks. They are not allowed to practice without licenses, but their ability to fix sports injuries by manipulation is famous.
