Shane T. McCoy is an American combat photographer, photojournalist and videographer best known for capturing a series of images on Jan. 11, 2002, of the arrival and processing of captives held in extrajudicial detention at Camp X-Ray the first of the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. McCoy spent over a decade in the United States Navy. After his enlistment ended he remained in federal government service, working as the first official operational photojournalist for the U.S. Marshals Service.
