Steam waggons, built by Sentinel.
"The Sentinel was the product of a Glasgow firm of marine engineers Alley & MacLellan."
The first Sentinel Steam Waggon followed a design bought from Daniel H. Simpson (1874–1916) of Simpson and Bibby. It was improved by Stephen Alley (1840–1898) and introduced in 1906. It featured a vertical boiler and a really efficient superheater .The engine was 2 cylinders under floor type.
In 1915, steam wagon manufacturing was separated and relocated to new premises in Shrewsbury. Stephen Alleys share in the company were bought by William Beardmore & Co. The new owners sold the premises in Shrewsbury in 1918, while Alley & MacLellan remained in business for the following decades. Steam wagon manufacturing ended in 1950.
