English: The Seattle Cedar mill ("Maltese Cross" brand), located just west of the north end of the Ballard Bridge, opened in 1890. Like other Ballard mills they turned out millions of shingles and board feet of lumber until supply of cedar logs decreased around the 1970s. Although rebuilt after a fire in 1958, the mill closed for good in 1973.
