The W.S. Seaman Co. (1881-1919; founded as a furniture maker in 1847) was a carriage maker and coachbuilder for several American car makes (f.e. production bodies for Jeffery and Velie), and hearse and commercial bodies (f.e. Ford T and TT, Liberty truck cabs), and had a custom body department that worked for Cadillac, Cole, Dorris, Locomobile, Lozier, Packard, and Velie. Seaman also made side cars for Harley-Davidson. Further, there was a cooperation with Rothschild & Co., New York, for building their designs under licence. The Rothschild-Seaman Co. existed from 1910-1914.
The company was bought by Nash in 1919 and became their main production body builder under the Seaman Body Corp. designation. After 1936, it became the Seaman Body Division of Nash-Kelvinator.
