Images of Sarsen stones, they are a hard sandstone that is found commonly on Salisbury Plain, the Marlborough Downs and in Kent and to a lesser extent in the other southern counties. The stones may be found randomly in the countryside, as a special placed stone, as part of a wall or as part of an ancient structure.
