English: The Sandcliff Hotel was built in 1895 > Date stone. With the arrival of the railway line in 1877, and with the Great Eastern running the 'Norfolk Coast Express' direct from London's Liverpool Street to Cromer, stopping only once (in North Walsham) by 1897, architects were commissioned to erect tall red brick houses with bay windows, gables, dormers and the occasional domed angle turret. The principal architect was G.J. Skipper of Norwich.
