English: Salgados lagoon also known as Lagoa de Vale de Parra and Sapal de Pêra is an area of coastal marsh and wetland which has been formed by the convergence of two small rivers, the Espiche and Vale Rabelho rivers. The wetland and lagoon is located east of the town of Armação de Pêra behind the Praia Grande beach. The lagoon is kept separate from the ocean by cordon of protected sand dune. This shallow lagoon is spread over an area of 50 hectares. Almost the whole lagoon and its reed beds can be seen from the single two storey observation point accessed by a boardwalk that runs between the dunes and the lagoon. From here observations are possible of the large variety of waterfowl which includes ducks, herons, waders and sea birds. In past years the area has been under constant threat from developers but is now a protected wetland.
