Mail phaeton. Thus named for its very flexible and very comfortable suspension comparable to that of the English mail-coaches, this phaeton was built between 1843 and 1875 by Baptiste Thomas, famous Paris coachbuilder recognized for the right balance of the proportions and the lightness of the parts of the train of his phaetons. It is an elegant carriage of very high class, combining sportiness and comfort, coupled with two or four thoroughbred horses and led in general by its sole owner.
