HLD 54 is a range of Belgian diesel locomotives, numbered from 5401 till 5408.
It's derived from HLD 52, which has a lower maximal speed. The higher speed (140 Kph) was required to haul long distance passenger trains, including TEE (Trans Europ Express) trains between France, Belgium and Germany or Netherlands.
