The German ironclad Friedrich Carl was built for the Norddeutschen Bundesmarine, which later became the Imperial German Navy. It was launched in 1867 and delivered the same year. In 1902 it was renamed Neptun and its old name was used for a new armoured cruiser. Sold in 1906 and broken up.
