Founded in 1899 it is the fourth oldest association football club of Brazil and participated in 1902 in the first ever championship match in the history of the country. 1906 and 1915 football champions of the State of São Paulo. Famous players include Hermann Friese, Camillo Ugi and Arthur Friedenreich. The football team of the club was phased out with the advent of the professionalisation of the sport in the mid 1930s.
