A Rumble seat coupe is a closed two door automobile seating 2 or 3 people in a single row in the car, and one or two more on a seat (bench) in the rear which is accessible by opening the deck lid, and via step plates or, rarely, a separate door cut in the side. R.s. coupes usually share many body parts with the business coupe, and the r.s. roadster. This body style became obsolete in the 1930s, when popularly prized closed 5-6-passenger cars became widely available.
