English: This street is named after The Armed Forces Movement. The Movimento das Forças Armadas was a organisation of low ranked officers in the Portuguese military who had left wing socialist leanings. The collective was responsible for the military coup which took place inLisbon on the 25th April 1974. This peacful coup is known in Portugal as the Carnation Revolution.
