Rauch & Lang started carriage making in the 1850, moved to coachwork for automobiles, and was a leading manufacturer of electric automobiles when merged with the Baker Motor Vehicle Company, another electric car manufacturer, into Baker, Rauch and Lang in 1915. After a reorganization in 1919, Rauch and Lang Electric was one of three company division. Dwindling sales for electric automobiles led to the sale of this division to Raymond S. Deering who aleady owned the Stevens-Duryea Motor Co.


Raymond S. Deering, a Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts businessman who also owned the former factory and assets of the defunct He reorganized that firm in 1919 as Stevens-Duryea Inc. and started production of a new Stevens-Duryea automobile. Using the Rauch & Lang trade name, Deering manufactured a small number of electric taxicabs in a new plant that was built next to the existing Stevens-Duryea factory. Unfortunately, a number of financial setbacks plagued the Deering enterprises and by 1922, both firms were in receivership.


Parts of Baker Raulang were absorbed in 1977 by Linde.
