Quercus robur, the English oak, has a single specimen in remnant open forest near Navarre St in 7th Brigade Park. The plant seems to struggle in the dry and subtropical conditions. How the oak came to be in this location is unknown, except that an acorn may have found its way into garden waste dumped in the park. Considering the rarity of oaks of any species in Brisbane this is a far from satisfactory explanation.
