It was made in 1913 for Queen Mary, and is a copy of the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, with which it is commonly confused.
Queen Mary's Lover's Knot was inherited by Queen Mary's granddaughter Elizabeth II in 1953. It was on long-term loan to Diana, Princess of Wales, before her divorce. It is currently worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales.
