  • English: A pyxis (plural pyxides) is a type of container, usually a round box with a separate lid, probably used by women to hold cosmetics, trinkets or jewelery. Surviving pyxides are mostly ancient Greek pottery or glass or ivory or metal or other material, from later periods.
