Per Gesetz geschützt sind beispielsweise die Ufer von Binnengewässern, Dünen, Höhlen oder Salzwiesen an der Küste. Die Flächen sind oft klein und die Biotope haben keine Namen. In einigen Bundesländern (Baden-Württemberg) werden Biotope kartiert und sind in einer Datenbank erfasst.
English: Protected biotopes in Germany – These areas are protected in Germany by § 30 Bundesnaturschutzgesetz. For example, all riversides, swamps, dunes, caves and marshes are protected, no matter if they are in a nature reserve or not. They are often small and do not have a name. In some states (e.g. Baden-Württemberg) they are mapped and registered in a database.
