English: Bollards in the Netherlands placed on curbstones; they were used in earlier times to separate the sidewalk, which was privately owned, from the public road. They did not have the function to keep out traffic, but to separate private and public areas.
Nederlands: Stoeppalen in Nederland: palen die in vroeger tijden werden gebruikt om de stoep, die particulier bezit was, af te scheiden van de openbare rijweg. Stoeppalen hadden niet de functie om het verkeer te weren, maar om particulier en openbaar gebied te scheiden.
