HF 9126 was new to Wallasey Corporation in 1940 as their No. 74. It was originally a Metro-Cammell bodied double-decker bus, built on a Leyland Titan TD7c chassis (the 'c' denoting for torque converter, as opposed to a conventional gearbox). After withdrawal in 1925 it was converted to a centre-door/one and a half deck layout, to serve as a police control unit for Liverpool City Police (which later became Lancashire Constabulary). It is surmised that the conversion was undertaken by Liverpool Corporation, since they were performing the same for airport buses at the time). It has been preserved since the 1970s.
