English: Preah Palilay is an atmospheric Buddhist sanctuary in Angkor Thom. Excellent reliefs seem to indicate that the small temple was built under King Jayavarman VII. But then, it is difficult to explain how these reliefs could have survived King Jayavarman VIII, responsible for the destruction of so much Buddhist imagery. It is well possible that Preah Palilay was not built before 1295.
