English: Jumping seat used before the Caprilli, i.e. modern seat took over. Rider retains their posture and form nearly unchanging thwoughout the jump. Compared to the modern seat, it hinders the horse from jumping high, but retains its usefulness in certain disciplines where staying in the saddle is more of a concern than maximum jump height; such as steeplechase and the marathon phase in eventing.
