Cappadocia is an area where formerly many people lived in now abandoned underground cities or in housing carved out of the rock that was abandoned later, some as recent as the 20st century. Many of those settlements have been turned in tourist attractions (like Open air museums). For that reason they are grouped here. Left out are the many populated places where part of town still has the abandoned dwellings, but most is modern.
