English: Ponsonby's Column was a monumental column erected in 1838 on St. Andrew's Bastion in Valletta, in the memory of Governor Sir Frederick Cavendish Ponsonby, who had died in 1837. The column was destroyed by lightning in 1864. Its plinth survived, and was relocated to Hastings Gardens in 1888, where it remains today.
