This category groups media relating to poles and polars, which are points and lines respectively. The polar line of a point P with respect to a circle centered on a point O is the line passing through the inverse point Q of the point P in the circle, a line that is also perpendicular to the radial line OP.
The concept of poles and polars can be generalized to conic section. The operation of replacing every point with its polar line, and every line with its pole is known as reciprocation.
