Plasencia has two cathedrals, the older (Catedral Vieja), from the early 13th century in Romanesque and Gothic style, and the newer (Catedral Nueva) from the early 16th and 17th centuries, in late Gothic, Renaissance and Plateresque styles. The newer was built partially on top of the old one and they are connected through the cloisters.
