Grade II listed fountain, created 1962 - 1965 by Richard Huws [cy]. It takes the form of a kinetic water sculpture in which buckets fill and then tilt and empty into a pool beneath. Also known as the "Bucket Fountain". The science behind its operation is that as the buckets fill, their geometry forces the centre of gravity of the water to move upwards and forwards of the pivot, and when the bucket is full, the weight of the water is enough to make it overbalance and tip forwards.
