English: Phoenix was a wooden paddle steamer built 1842 by Scotts Greenock, for Cape of Good Hope Steam Nav Co, Cape Town. 1945 sold to Phoenix Steam Nav Co (William Billingsley), Cape Town and 1853 to A. Broadfoot & partners, Melbourne. Wrecked 1855 possibly in Torres Strait.
Dimensions: length × beam × depth = 143.8 × 21.5 × 15.6 ft (43.8 × 6.5 × 4.7 m) and tonnage 240 gross tons and 400 burthen.[1][2]
