The Pharping Hydro Power Project is the first hydropower project of Nepal. It is situated in Kathmandu district and was established in 1911 as Chandrajyoti Hydro-electric power station. In 2010, it was declared a Living Museum by the government of Nepal and opened for the public. Currently water from the reservoir is used for the drinking water supply in Lalitpur District.
