English: Media related to chicanes where pedestrians or cyclists are made to detour sideways by fences or walls. The harsher examples may prevent cycling access altogether.
English: Uses are normally to force users to look down a particular direction (or look in both directions) so that they are more likely to spot vehicles when crossing a road or railway line. Other uses are to block access by vehicles / fast-moving vehicles onto a pedestrian path.
