English: A Patriarchal Sacristy in the basement of the Patriarchal Palace contains a large cistern dating back to the Ptolemaic age. The ancient cistern was used to gather rain water. The space was reconfigured into a Sacristy that conforms to contemporary museum standards. The Sacristy provides space to preserve and display 150 items of historical interest and significant ecclesiastical heirlooms.
