English: The 9th century 7-line Kufic Qur'an manuscript, No. 548, was stolen from Pars Museum, Shiraz on 16 April 2003. Folios of the manuscript were smuggled out of Iran and since 2004, sold at different European auction houses including Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonham’s, Tejan and Boisgirard. While the Iranian government is trying to use legal action to get them back, the stolen folios have made their way to private collections, as well as various museums worldwide. (Source)
