Surfing on longboards, surf skis and surf boats, the Palm Beach Qld SLSC members had crowd free access the point breaks of the Gold Coast. Apart from members of other surf life saving clubs, virtually no one was in the water. A favourite point break was the long, slow right hander at Currumbin Rock, known as Currumbin Alley or Shark Alley. The latter title due to the frequency of shark sightings in the break. These were probably bull sharks moving in and out of Currumbin Creek.
