English: In 1810 or 1816 Amschel Mayer [von] Rothschild bought a piece of land with a small country house, built in 1806. By 1830 he commissioned the architect Friedrich Rumpf to rebuild it. A new storey was added, the windows given triangular gables, and the whole became an elegant palace in the style of a Roman Renaissance villa with splendid rooms for receptions and social events. The earlier small garden became an English garden-style park with orangery and glasshouses. When Amschel Mayer died in 1855 he left the house to his nephew. In 1869 the nephew converted the house into a good-sized mansion, for which he commissioned Richard Dielmann. In 1890, two symmetrical wings were added. Maximilian von Goldschmidt-Rothschild, since 1898 the owner, and son in law of the previous proprietor, acquired neighbouring properties and converted them into parkland. 1938 the Nazi regime forced Goldschmidt-Rothschild to sell mansion and park far below price. In 1940 the mansion was rebuilt into arpartments to let, one of them inhabited by Goldschmidt-Rothschild untill his death in the same year. The rebuilt mansion was then destroyed in Allied air raids 1943, the park in 1944.
