Between 1939 and 1942, designer and entrepreneur Howard A. Darrin (1897-1982) built a series of semi-custom automobiles for the Packard motor Car Company. There were several body styles: a Convertible Victoria, style #700, offered in the One-Twenty and Custom Super Eight One-Eighty model ranges, and convertibe sedan (#710), and sport sedan (#720) as Custom Super Eight One-Eighty models only. When he closed the doors of his Darrin of Paris shop in Los Angeles, California, in 1939 (after only two years), Packard took over the handling of these cars. Some were built by Central Manufacturing Co. in Connersville, Indiana, Coachcraft, Ltd., Hollywood, California, and Bohman & Schwartz, Pasadena, California. After WW2, there was an extremely rare Darrin convertible based on the Clipper Custom Super.
