Louis Agassiz and Augustus Gould published Principles of Zoology 1848, with a revised edition in 1851/1860. Part 1 of the book was subtitled Comparative Physiology
Thomas Wright edited an enlarged version of Part 1 as Outlines of comparative physiology touching the structure and development of the races of animals, living and extinct - for the use of schools and colleges. In particular this edition included a greatly increased number of illustrations.
