English: The octogonal market stone of Noughaval was erected c. 1725 and is located at the road to Carran at the path to the old church. See the corresponding NIAH entry. According to Westropp, this is the surviving pier of a market cross, see p. 133 in T. J. Westropp: Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy (1889–1901), Vol. 6 (1900–1902), pp. 100–180.
