English: The Pesti Magyar Színház (Hungarian Theatre of Pest) was founded Pest county of the Kingdom of Hungary (initiator: Gábor Földváry, alispán of the Kingdom of Hungary). Built by Mátyás Zitterbarth. At the time of its construction it was intended for as temporary theater until the larger and more worthy building of the National Theater is built at the now named Széchenyi Square in the Danube bank - however, this never happened. Known as Pesti Magyar Színház (Hungarian Theatre of Pest) from 1837 until 1840. Until August 8, 1840 the state took over and the name was changed to National Theatre by the Diet of Hungary. The building was remodeled and extended with a corner building (as tenement house and for actor training) in 1875 by Antal Szkalnitzky, and than in 1913 demolished (the company was moved to the People's Theatre at Blaha Lujza Square in 1908). For a long time it was plant to build a permanent building for the National Theater in the former building site.
