Museum of the City, Museo de la Ciudad, Quito (north courtyard)) The City Museum is a museum in the colonial center of Quito, Ecuador. It is located on Garcia Moreno Street, between Morales and Rocafuerte. The concept for the museum was founded in 1982 by Dr. Eduardo Estrella Aguirre and in 1998 the once San Juan de Dios Hospital was transformed into the Museo de la Ciudad, Quito.

Museo de la Ciudad, Quito is located in the Historic Center of Quito, also referred to as the (Quito Colonial Center) which is the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. An area that stretches over 790 acres with 130 monumental buildings, over 8,000 smaller properties and numerous 500 year old Churches and Convents. The Historic Center of Quito is a a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was constructed on what was once a 16th century Inca city at an altitude of 2,850 metres in the Andes Mountains near the Equator. Quito is the capital of Ecuador & is at an altitude of 2,850 meteres, 9,350 feet above sea level.
