English: For decades, prior to early 2023, several dozen mature trees lined the south edge of Moss Park. A new subway line is planned to run under the park. Every other subterranean station on the route will have a shaft dug to the station level, and the station will then be excavated, by mining. However, for Moss Park Station, the decision was made, that, since it was a park, the entire footprint of the new station would be excavated. This excavation required removing all the trees.
